Handcuff Training Course
This course is designed to give candidates the concept of using handcuffs rather than a course for specific types. The candidate will use various types of handcuffs i/e Ridged, Link, and Plastic thereby learning the good and bad aspects of each.
When operational it will not matter which 
type the candidate is issued, as the correct application will be firmly fixed in their mind after extensive training, a Certificate will be given to successful candidates on completion of a practical and written evaluation. It is highly recommended that candidates reclassify every 12 months in order to remain credible within their trade.
The Aim of this course is to increase the candidates knowledge and skill in the application of handcuffs should they be required
At the end of the course the candidate will be able:
- To understand the Home Office guidelines on the use of handcuffs
- To understand the current UK legislation on the Use of Force
- To develop an understanding of the Medical implications when the use of handcuffs are applied
- To develop the motor skills needed for the Grip, draw and correct application. Various methods of application, depending on the cuff applied
- To develop the motor skills needed to apply the correct control & restraint holds to use when applying handcuffs and the safe method of removal. how to change handcuffs should the perpetrator be handed over to Law Enforcement officers
The course is of two days duration.
This training is offered to companies/organisations and is normally carried out on their premises. Although REACT does source training venues when required A course would normally consist of up to 12 persons.
